Dr. Lyle Skains is an Associate Professor in Health and Science Communication at Bournemouth University, based in the Faculty of Media & Communication. Her research focuses on using interactive digital narratives (IDNs) to address global challenges such as climate change and public health through interdisciplinary collaboration. She leads initiatives like the Sustainable Storytelling Lab and the Science, Health, and Data Communications Research Group, fostering cross-faculty partnerships. Her work bridges creative writing, digital media, and science communication, with projects such as 'You & CO2' and 'Infectious Storytelling' aiming to effect behavior change via engaging narratives. Skains is also involved in editorial roles for journals and the Electronic Literature Collection, and founded Wonderbox Publishing for speculative digital fiction.
