Luís Filipe Gomes Lopes

Luís Filipe Gomes Lopes is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Forestry, University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD). He has also served in the Department of Forestry Sciences and Landscape Architecture, teaching courses such as Hydrology, Remote Sensing, and Forest Planning. His academic career includes roles in Public Administration, including coordination of the National Commission for the Valorisation of Community Territories and Director of the Northern Forestry and Fisheries District. He advised the Secretary of State for Forests and Rural Development on service commission.

Utilizes remote sensing and hydrological modeling for environmental optimization. Engages in interdisciplinary projects addressing water resources, agro-environmental chains, and landscape dynamics.

Projects & Grants: Led or contributed to projects such as CETRAD (UID/SOC/04011/2019), INTERACT (Norte-01-0145-FEDER-000017), and Data4LowDensity. Active in policy-oriented research through initiatives like the Douro SocioEcoLL and Public Administration commissions.

Labs & Teams: Core member of the Territorial Transitions & Wellbeing (T2WELL) research group and CETRAD Hub, fostering transdisciplinary approaches to development challenges.
