Luís Ferreira Pires is an Associate Professor at the University of Twente, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS), Department of Computer Science, and a member of the Semantics, Cybersecurity & Services (SCS) research group.
Education:
- B.Sc. in Electronics from Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (São José dos Campos, Brazil), 1983
- M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering (Computer Networks specialisation) from Escola Politécnica da Universidade de São Paulo (São Paulo, Brazil), 1989
- PhD from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Twente, Enschede, the Netherlands, 1994
His research focuses on distributed systems design methodologies, architecture, modeling and specification techniques, middleware platforms, and telematics applications. Expertise spans Ontology Models, Service Interoperability, Application Semantics, and integration of Internet of Things within Enterprise Architecture frameworks.
Professor Ferreira Pires leads Master courses 'Service-Oriented Architecture with Web services' and 'ADSA: Model-Driven Engineering', and the Bachelor Module 'Software Systems', while contributing to 'Introduction to Business & IT' and 'Data and Information'.
He actively participates in the Services & Cyber-Security (SCS) group under the Digital Society Institute.
