Lupe Alberto Flores

Lupe Alberto Flores is an Assistant Professor in the Department of American Ethnic Studies at the University of Washington’s College of Arts & Sciences. His research focuses on the anthropology of borders, digital security state practices, and migrant experiences. He is on Fellowship Leave for 2024-2025.

Education:

• B.A. in Anthropology, UT Rio Grande Valley (2014)

Research Interests: Flores examines transnational security logics, digital biometric technologies, and border policies. His book project analyzes asylum policies and digital innovations in Mexico and the U.S., particularly during the Title 42 era. He explores intersections of migration, surveillance, and feminist STS through ethnographic methods.
