Lukas Kölsch

Lukas Kölsch is an Assistant Professor in Mathematics at the University of South Florida, specializing in cryptographic and coding theory applications. He earned his PhD at the University of Rostock (Germany) in 2020 and focuses on algebraic structures, combinatorics, and number theory to address problems in cryptography.

His research includes semifields, rank-metric codes, and nonlinear Boolean functions like APN functions. Recent work explores perfect nonlinear functions, c-differential uniformity in block ciphers, and exponential growth bounds for commutative semifields.

He co-organized the CodebreakHERS cybersecurity camp for girls (2022) and serves on the Program Committee for BFA 2023. Publications span journals like Combinatorica and Transactions of the American Mathematical Society.
