Luka Celent is a Lecturer in the School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Portsmouth, affiliated with the Faculty of Technology and Portsmouth Centre for Advanced Materials and Manufacturing. He holds a PhD from the University of Split, Croatia, where his research focused on compressed cold air applications in machining processes under the mentorship of Professor Dražen Bajić.
His teaching responsibilities include coordinating undergraduate and postgraduate modules such as Manufacturing Systems Design (MSc Advanced Manufacturing Technology, MSc Engineering Management), Manufacturing Systems (BEng Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering), and a Distance Learning variant of the latter. Celent’s research interests center on sustainable manufacturing, Industry 4.0/5.0 integration, CAD/CAM systems, and lean manufacturing principles.
His publications (2011–2024) emphasize sustainable machining techniques, smart manufacturing systems, and Industry 4.0 adoption in manufacturing industries. Notable contributions include studies on compressed air-cooling in milling processes, Industry 5.0 paradigm shifts, and multi-criteria decision systems for machining optimization. He has collaborated with institutions in Croatia and the UK on collaborative networks and digital transformation projects.
