Dr. Luiza Notini is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at the University of Delaware. She holds a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Iowa, an M.Sc. in Sanitation, Environment, and Water Resources, and a B.Sc. in Environmental Engineering from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil. She completed postdoctoral research at ETH Zurich’s Department of Environmental System Sciences. Her research focuses on biogeochemical processes in soils and sediments, particularly iron and trace element dynamics using Fe isotopes and Mössbauer spectroscopy. Key interests include contaminant mobility, environmental remediation, and water quality. Notini bridges lab and fieldwork to address challenges at the intersection of iron geochemistry and engineering.
Research Interests:
- Iron mineral transformations and their environmental implications
- Soil and sediment biogeochemistry
- Sustainable water resource management
- Contaminant fate and transport
Recent Publications: Her work (2021–2024) highlights advancements in understanding iron mineral stability, redox processes, and organic-mineral interactions. Recent studies explore vivianite formation in intertidal sediments and jarosite transformations in acid sulfate soils.
Labs/Teams: Not explicitly mentioned, but integrates field and lab methodologies across interdisciplinary environmental systems.
