Luiz Peres Garzezi

Luiz Peres Garzezi is an academic at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), affiliated with the Institute for Communications (InCom) and the Department of Journalism and Communication Studies. He holds a Ph.D. from UAB (2010) and a degree from the University of São Paulo (USP, 2004). His research focuses on digital communication, populism, and media analysis, with recent projects addressing social polarization and migrant youth engagement. He has contributed to over 50 publications, including studies on hate speech, transnational activism during the pandemic, and digital populism. Currently, he is an investigator in projects funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
