Luiz Barbosa is a Lecturer in the Department of Sociology & Sexuality Studies at San Francisco State University (SFSU), part of the College of Health & Social Sciences. His research focuses on environmental sociology, particularly the intersection of capitalism, development, and ecological sustainability in the Brazilian Amazon. He examines the roles of NGOs, grassroots movements, and anti-systemic forces in environmental conservation. Barbosa’s work critically analyzes global ecopolitics, systemic crises, and the socio-ecological tensions between development and preservation.
