Luis Rodriguez is a Professor at the Coulter School of Engineering & Applied Sciences, Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, at Clarkson University. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at El Paso (2020) and holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Monterrey Institute of Technology (1996). Prior to joining Clarkson, he spent 12 years as a design engineer at Chrysler Motors, contributing to the Dodge Ram models (1997–2008), and served as Director of the Mechanical & Automotive Design Engineering program at Monterrey Institute of Technology.
His research bridges industry and academia, focusing on structural analysis, materials characterization, turbulent fluid simulation, and heat transfer analysis. He has published extensively on atmospheric turbulence, machine learning applications, and computational fluid dynamics, with recent work in 2024 exploring physics-informed neural networks and boundary layer transitions.
