Luis Maria Castañer Muñoz

Luis Maria Castañer Muñoz is a Professor in the Department of Electronic Engineering at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), where he leads research in Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) and space instrumentation. He is affiliated with the Barcelona School of Telecommunications Engineering and serves as Principal Investigator for the MCML Research Group and the CTE-CRAE Space Science and Technology Research Group.

His research focuses on developing advanced sensors for extreme environments, particularly for space applications. Dr. Castañer has made significant contributions to NASA's Mars exploration program, most notably through the development of the spherical 3D wind sensor used in the Mars 2020 mission's environmental monitoring suite.
