Luis Manuel González is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of British Columbia and a Research Associate at the Archaeology Centre, University of Toronto. He is a licensed archaeologist with over 20 years of research experience in the Andes, focusing on the development of complex societies during the Early Intermediate Period (EIP) and Middle Horizon. His work examines regional interactions between Lima, Moche, Nasca, and Wari societies, with expertise in bioarchaeology, mortuary practices, archaeoastronomy, and foodways.
Trained at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in Lima, Peru, he has directed projects in regions including Lima, Chilca, Cajamarca, and Arequipa since 2009. His research integrates interdisciplinary methods such as stable isotope analysis, faunal studies, and spatial analysis to explore agropastoral strategies, exchange networks, and social organization.
Notable contributions include studies on Quilcapampa’s Wari colony, camelid husbandry practices, and ritual offerings at Huaca Colorada. He collaborates with the Multispecies Archaeology Research Group and has authored/co-authored publications on topics ranging from bone instruments to architectural adaptation in Andean contexts.
