Luis Malpica Castillo

Luis Malpica Castillo, M.D., serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Lymphoma/Myeloma within the Division of Cancer Medicine at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, specializing in hematologic malignancies with emphasis on adult T cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATLL) and HTLV-1-associated conditions in Latin American populations.

He co-founded the Latin American Group of Lymphoproliferative Disorders (GELL) in 2017 to identify population-specific mechanistic and prognostic factors. His work bridges infectious disease and oncology, developing novel therapeutic approaches while addressing regional disparities in lymphoma outcomes through Latin American collaboration.

He has secured intramural and extramural funding including career development awards to establish research infrastructure. Dr. Malpica actively contributes to the hematology community as ASH abstract reviewer and panel moderator, ASH Educational Program faculty, and NIH/NCI, ASH, and LRF grant panel reviewer.
