Luis Javier Cruz Riaño

Luis Javier Cruz Riaño is a Research Professor at Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana (UPB) in Medellín, Colombia, serving as coordinator of the New Materials Research Group (GINUMA). His work spans sustainable materials development with direct contributions to United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in clean energy, responsible consumption, and environmental remediation.

His research focuses on advanced material systems including natural fiber-reinforced composites (bamboo/polypropylene), graphene-based nanomaterials, and activated carbon bioproducts. Key investigations cover thermal aging effects on biocomposite wear behavior, electrochemical properties of graphene supercapacitors, and biomass valorization techniques.
