معرفی
Dr. Luis Herrera is a Lecturer in Computational Engineering at Charles Darwin University's Faculty of Science and Technology. His research focuses on molecular simulation techniques, gas-solid interactions, and the characterization of porous materials for applications like carbon capture and environmental engineering. He holds a PhD from the University of Queensland (2011), a Master's from Universidad Nacional de Colombia (2010), and a Bachelor's from Fundación Universidad de América (1995).
His research interests include developing Monte Carlo methods for simulating porous materials, studying adsorption mechanisms under supercritical conditions, and advancing carbon capture technologies. Current projects include investigating carbon capture pathways in the Northern Territory and analyzing asphalt performance in NT roads.
Dr. Herrera has contributed to over 30 peer-reviewed articles, with notable work on CO₂ adsorption in zeolitic frameworks and fluorine-free foam rheology. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to affordable and clean energy and climate action.
He supervises Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students and collaborates on projects funded by initiatives like the IAS Rainmaker. His expertise spans computational modeling, material characterization, and interdisciplinary environmental engineering.
