Luis Escobar

Luis Escobar is a Junior Leader Fellow at the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ), where he leads the research group focused on Functional Supramolecular Polymers for Health Applications. He returned to ICIQ in 2024 after completing postdoctoral research at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and University of Cambridge.

His research interests center on molecular recognition, self-assembly, and supramolecular polymerization. Dr. Escobar's work uniquely combines biological scaffolds such as nucleic acids and peptides with synthetic macrocyclic receptors to create novel supramolecular polymers. These hybrid systems maintain the functional capabilities of biological components while benefiting from the structural control provided by synthetic receptors.

Analysis of his recent publications reveals a strong focus on developing supramolecular systems that function effectively in aqueous environments, with particular emphasis on molecular recognition processes and the creation of functional polymeric nanostructures.
