Luis Colon-Perez

Luis Colon-Perez, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology & Neuroscience at the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC). He is affiliated with the College of Biomedical and Translational Sciences and leads the Colon-Perez Neuroimaging Lab. His research focuses on understanding neural changes in neuropsychiatric disorders, particularly substance use disorders, using neuroimaging and computational neuroscience methods. Key techniques include MRI, connectomics, functional connectivity analysis, tractography, and graph theory.

Education:

• PhD in Physics, University of Florida
• BS in Physics, University of Puerto Rico

Research Interests: Substance use disorders, Alzheimer's disease, aging, in vivo small animal imaging, and cognition in neuropsychiatric disorders. His lab integrates diffusion and functional MRI with network analysis to study brain connectivity and topology in disease models.
