Luigino Bernabela

Luigino Bernabela, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of the Division of Rheumatic Diseases. He joined the faculty in 2018 and serves on the committee for Immune-Related Adverse Events. Originally from Curacao, he earned his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine and completed a rheumatology fellowship at UT Southwestern, where he was Chief Fellow. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in rheumatology.

Research Interests: Focuses on rheumatoid arthritis and the application of musculoskeletal ultrasound for diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic diseases. Engages in clinical research to advance diagnostic techniques in rheumatology.

Professional Affiliations: Active member of the Division of Rheumatic Diseases and contributor to institutional committees addressing immune-related adverse events.

Languages: Fluent in Spanish and Dutch. Enjoys outdoor activities, family time, reading, swimming, and jazz music.
