معرفی
Ludmil B. Alexandrov is an Assistant Professor at the Shu Chien-Gene Lay Department of Bioengineering and the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) Jacobs School of Engineering. His research focuses on decoding mutational processes in cancer through large-scale omics datasets, particularly in understanding cancer development and improving prevention and treatment strategies via mutational signatures.
Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Neumont University
- Master’s of Philosophy in Computational Biology, University of Cambridge
- Ph.D. in Cancer Genetics, University of Cambridge
Research Highlights: Alexandrov pioneered the concept of mutational signatures, mapping their role in human cancers and normal somatic cells. His work links mutational signatures to targeted therapies and environmental factors like tobacco smoking, and he leads the Mutographs of Cancer project to identify unknown cancer-causing agents.
Scientific Awards:
- 2018 Early Career Award, International Academy for Medical and Biological Engineering
Labs & Collaborations: The Alexandrov Lab at UCSD contributes to cancer genomics research, with affiliations across bioengineering and molecular medicine disciplines.
