Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisationمعرفی
Dr. Lucy Egan serves as a Research Scientist at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), where she has been an integral member of the cotton breeding team since November 2020. Her work focuses on integrating host plant resistance mechanisms against pests and diseases into cotton breeding programs to develop resilient, sustainable varieties for agricultural use.
Academic credentials include:
- 2015: Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Biotechnology and Biochemistry from Lincoln University
- 2016: Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Science (Plant Breeding) from Lincoln University
- 2020: Doctor of Philosophy in Plant Breeding and Genetics from Lincoln University
Her research spans plant breeding, quantitative genetics, and plant pathology with specialized emphasis on host plant resistance and crop improvement. By leveraging germplasm exploration and phenotyping techniques, she develops genetic solutions for biotic stress tolerance in cotton, directly contributing to reduced pesticide dependency and enhanced agricultural sustainability. Current projects target trait mapping for pest resistance and abiotic stress adaptation in field crops.
As part of CSIRO's Cotton Breeding initiative, Dr. Egan collaborates within a multidisciplinary agricultural research team. No information regarding scientific awards, student advisement, or grant funding was documented in available sources.
