Lucio MILANO

Lucio MILANO is an Honorary Professor of History of the Ancient Near East at Ca' Foscari University of Venice, where he has served as Full Professor since 2001. He holds a degree from La Sapienza University of Rome (1975) and has held visiting positions at UCLA, Cornell, and the École Pratique des Hautes Études. His research focuses on economic and social history of Syria/Mesopotamia (3rd-2nd millennia BCE), digital cuneiform archives, and food practices in antiquity.

• Former Director of Tell Beydar Archaeological Mission (Syria, 1997–2018)

He edited the journal KASKAL and directed the Antichistica monograph series. His administrative roles included Deputy Director of the Humanities Department (2007–2017) and international relations coordination (2017–2020).
