Lucile Desblache is a Professor of Translation and Transcultural Studies at the Centre for Research in Translation and Transcultural Studies, part of the School of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. She holds dual doctorates in Comparative Literature (University Blaise Pascal) and Musicology (University Paris VIII). Her research focuses on comparative literature (especially contemporary writing and Animal Studies), translation theory, translation pedagogy, and the interplay between textual and musical expression.
Professional roles include editorship of JoSTrans: The Journal of Specialised Translation (2004–2018), leadership of the AHRC-funded 'Translating Music' network (2013–2014), and membership in international research networks like CNRS Animots and Universidad de Valladolid’s gender studies project. She has also led translation program developments in Athens and the UK.
Her teaching expertise spans translation theory, audiovisual translation, and French comparative literature. Recent academic engagements include keynote lectures at the American Literary Translators’ Association (2019) and public talks on topics like 'Women, Animals and Fashion' (2020).
