Lucian Ilie is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Western University. He obtained his PhD in 1999 from the University of Turku, Finland, and has been active in academia since 2000. His research focuses on bioinformatics, machine learning, and string algorithms, particularly in the areas of protein interaction prediction, genome assembly, and algorithm design.

Research Interests: Machine Learning (Deep Learning, Explainable AI), Bioinformatics (Proteomics, Genomics), String Algorithms, and String Combinatorics. His work includes developing tools for sequence alignment, genome assembly, and protein interaction site prediction.
