Lucas Verweij is a multifaceted academic and practitioner engaged in architecture, design education, and innovation. He currently serves as a Skills tutor in Presentation at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK), affiliated with the Master Interior Architecture (INSIDE) program. Additionally, he teaches at Poznan’s School of Form and previously held roles including Dean of the Rotterdam Academy for Architecture and Urban Design (2001–2005) and project leader at Premsela (Netherlands Institute for Design and Fashion).
His professional interests span architecture, urban planning, and the social dimensions of design, with a focus on fostering innovative approaches to public spaces. Verweij is an active writer, contributing columns to Dezeen and authoring books on design through Haystack publishers. He maintains an online presence via his blog and Twitter, sharing insights on design and curating public events in Rotterdam and Berlin.
