Lucas Lixinski serves as Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of New South Wales (UNSW) Sydney. His academic work bridges the fields of international law and heritage studies, focusing specifically on community engagement in heritage governance.
Dr. Lixinski's research interests center on the intersection of critical heritage studies and international heritage law. He investigates how broader community participation functions within heritage governance and management frameworks, examining both the potential benefits and inherent challenges of such approaches. His work critically analyzes the relationship between legal frameworks and community-based heritage practices.
His scholarly output includes the significant monograph International Heritage Law for Communities: Exclusion and Re-Imagination published by Oxford University Press in 2019, which represents a major contribution to the field.
