Luca Lombardi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Industrial and Information Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Pavia, Italy. He has been a core faculty member since 1991, progressing from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor in 2000, and remains actively affiliated with the Computer Vision and Multimedia Laboratory.
His academic credentials include:
- Laurea (cum laude) in Electronics Engineering, University of Pavia (1986)
- Ph.D., University of Pavia (1990)
Dr. Lombardi's research centers on image processing, machine learning, and specialized architectures for image processing, with significant contributions to real-time robotic systems and ambient intelligence. His leadership in major research initiatives demonstrates applied expertise:
- Scientific Responsible for PRIN project on real-time operating systems for cooperating autonomous robots (2004-2006)
- Scientific Responsible for PRIN project on Ambient Intelligence: event analysis, sensor reconfiguration and multimodal interfaces (2006-2008)
He currently teaches foundational and advanced courses including Computer Programming (Fondamenti di Informatica Lab), Operating Systems, Artificial Vision, and Network Services at the University of Pavia.
