Luca Leonforte

Luca Leonforte is a Research Fellow at the University of Palermo's Department of Physics and Chemistry - Emilio Segrè. He holds a PhD in Physics (2022) and M.S. in Physics (2018) from the University of Palermo. His doctoral research under Prof. Francesco Ciccarello and Prof. Davide Valenti focused on quantum topological phases and Quantum Optics, particularly examining quantum emitters in waveguides and coupled-cavity arrays. Post-PhD, he conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Salerno under Prof. Fabrizio Illuminati, studying quantum entanglement near phase transitions.

Research interests span Quantum Optics with giant atoms, topological waveguide QED, and quantum information. He has contributed to frameworks predicting decoherence-free Hamiltonians in structured photonic baths, with applications to 2D systems like photonic graphene. His work bridges theoretical quantum physics and topological material systems.
