معرفی
Luca Giorgi (born January 7, 1972 in Rimini) is an Associate Professor of General and Inorganic Chemistry (CHIM/03) at the Department of Pure and Applied Sciences of the University of Urbino Carlo Bo. He teaches General and Inorganic Chemistry courses for Pharmacy and Nutritional Science programs, with teaching assignments scheduled through the 2025/2026 academic year.
Dr. Giorgi received his Industrial Chemical Technician diploma from ITIS "E. Mattei" of Urbino in 1991 (60/60), earned his degree in Chemistry from the University of Bologna in 1996 (110 cum laude), and completed his PhD in Chemical Sciences from the University of Camerino in 2003. His academic career progressed from University Researcher (2005-2017) to Associate Professor (2017-present).
His research focuses on inorganic and coordination chemistry with particular expertise in polyazamacrocyclic compounds, chemical sensors for metal ions, and bioinorganic applications. His work bridges fundamental chemical research with potential biomedical and environmental applications, as evidenced by publications on fluorescent probes, anticancer agents, and environmental pollutant binding.
Dr. Giorgi has authored 84 international journal publications, holds 3 patents, and has co-authored two university textbooks on General Chemistry. His recent work demonstrates a strong focus on the design and application of polyamine-based ligands for metal ion coordination with relevance to biological systems and environmental monitoring.
He maintains active research collaborations with scientists including Formica M., Ambrosi G., Fusi V., and others, indicating strong participation in research networks. His publications appear in reputable journals such as New Journal of Chemistry, Inorganica Chimica Acta, and Coordination Chemistry Reviews.
