معرفی
Prof. Luc Vandeperre is a Professor in the Department of Materials at Imperial College London, affiliated with the Centre for Advanced Structural Ceramics. His research focuses on ultra-high temperature ceramics (UHTCs) for hypersonic flight thermal protection systems, transpiration cooling systems, and environmental remediation using functionalized nanoparticles. Collaborations include the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) for hypersonic materials development.
Key research areas include manufacturing porous UHTCs via robocasting and gel-casting, evaluating heat transfer in hypersonic flows, and developing magnesium-based cements for nuclear waste encapsulation. His work spans material synthesis, mechanical testing, and application in extreme environments.
Recent studies emphasize transpiration cooling efficiency in turbulent flows, radionuclide adsorption using magnetic nanoparticles, and structural integrity of ceramic matrix composites. He supervises PhD students in these domains through Imperial's Department of Materials, with training opportunities at Dstl.
Notable contributions include advancements in ZrB2-based thermal protection systems and the TRANSCEND consortium's interdisciplinary environmental remediation projects. His lab integrates experimental, computational, and manufacturing approaches to solve aerospace and environmental challenges.
