Luc Teyton is a Professor in the Department of Immunology and Microbiology. His research focuses on structural studies of T cell functions and dysfunction, particularly the molecular mechanisms of T cell receptor (TCR) activation via MHC-peptide complexes. He has contributed to crystallizing TCR/pMHC complexes and investigates autoimmune diseases' origins, including self-peptide identification and T cell tolerance mechanisms.
Education:
- M.D. (Medicine), University of Caen Lower Normandy, 1980
- Ph.D. (Immunology), University of Paris (Paris VI), 1987
Research Interests: Structural immunology, T cell activation, autoimmune disease mechanisms, MHC-peptide interactions, and TCR complex assembly. His lab explores how TCR-ligand interactions trigger immune responses and seeks therapeutic strategies for autoimmune pathologies.
Awards & Honors:
- 2020 Elected Member, The Henry Kunkel Society
- 1991 John Satterfield Investigator Award
- Multiple fellowships and academic distinctions from 1980–1987 in France
Grants & Lab: His work is supported by grants focused on structural immunology and autoimmune disease. The Teyton Lab collaborates on projects integrating structural biology with immunological function studies.
Labs/Teams: The Teyton Laboratory specializes in structural and functional T cell receptor studies, with a focus on autoimmunity and viral immunity.
