معرفی
Luc Gerrits is a researcher at the DS4H Graduate School, University of Côte d'Azur, focusing on integrating Blockchain and Internet of Things (IoT) to enhance data security and reliability in connected systems. His work is part of the Smart IoT for Mobility project, funded by DS4H and the French National Research Agency (ANR), with collaborations from industrial partners like Renault and Symag.
Research Focus
His research explores the technical feasibility of embedding smart contracts into connected vehicles to automate insurance claims via blockchain, ensuring tamper-proof sensor data storage and decentralized processing. This multidisciplinary project bridges electronics engineering (LEAT) with expertise in IT (I3S, Inria), law (DL4T), economics (GREDEG), and behavioral science (LEEN).
Publications & Contributions
Luc has co-authored two IEEE publications analyzing resource optimization for blockchain in IoT environments and decentralized data architectures. His work addresses challenges like energy consumption, network capacity, and social/legal acceptability of automated systems.
Collaborations & Future Directions
As part of a team including Professor François Verdier and doctoral student Roland Kromes, Luc aims to deliver low-power IoT-blockchain architectures by the project's end in December 2023. His research emphasizes user accessibility for non-specialists and cross-sector partnerships.
