Lubna Hussain

Dr. Lubna Hussain is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatric Hospital Medicine at UT Southwestern. Board certified in General Pediatrics and Pediatric Hospital Medicine, she joined UT Southwestern in 2016. Previously, she practiced as a general pediatrician in Northern Virginia for six years. Her work focuses on supporting families during pediatric hospitalization and advocating for global health equity.

• Education: Pediatrics training at Dell Children’s Hospital, Austin, TX.

Her research interests include global pediatric medical relief, refugee healthcare, and Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS). She actively participates in international medical missions, including work in Greece, Yemen, and Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh-Myanmar. These experiences enrich her clinical and teaching perspectives at UT Southwestern. She serves as division representative to the hospital's POCUS committee.

Dr. Hussain is fluent in English, Spanish, Urdu, and proficient in Arabic, with a passion for Classical Arabic studies.
