Dr. Lu Wang is a joint Assistant Professor in Biomedical Engineering (Cullen College of Engineering) and Health Systems and Population Health Science (Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine) at the University of Houston. Her work bridges machine learning, data mining, and statistical methods applied to healthcare data. Prior to UH, she held a position at Texas State University.

Research Focus: Dr. Wang develops AI tools for analyzing health data, including electronic health records and genomic data, targeting cognitive disorders (e.g., Alzheimer’s, delirium) and chronic diseases (e.g., cancer, hypertension). She emphasizes human-centered design to enhance healthcare interoperability and accessibility through AI.
Grants & Funding: Her research is supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).
Service: She serves as an Associate Editor for Smart Health journal and actively participates in conferences like IEEE ICDM and AMIA.
