Lowell Mick White is an Associate Professor at Texas A&M University and a celebrated author whose work spans novels, short stories, and a craft book. His academic journey includes a Ph.D. (2010) and M.A. (2005) from Texas A&M and a B.A. (2003) from the University of Texas.
- Research Interests: 20th Century American Literature, Creative Writing Pedagogy, Story Structure, and Theories of Place.
- Awards & Honors: Nominated for the Pushcart Prize (2015), member of the Texas Institute of Letters (2014), Gival Press Novel Award (2008), and Ralph A. Johnston Fellowship (1998-1999).
White’s publications include novels like Normal School (2019) and Professed (2013), which satirize American higher education, and collections like Long Time Ago Good (2009), exploring Austin’s culture. His short fiction appears in journals such as Callaloo and Still: The Journal.
As an editor, White leads Alamo Bay Press and co-edited ABWW13 (2014). He mentors writers individually and through workshops. His recent blog posts highlight personal reflections on writing and life, including updates on his forthcoming book Answers Without Questions (2024), a guide for creative writers.
