Lourens Poorter is a Professor in the Forest Ecology and Forest Management Group at Wageningen University & Research, Netherlands. His research focuses on tropical forest ecology, functional traits, species performance, ecosystem functioning, and forest restoration. He has established himself as a leading researcher in understanding how tropical forests function, respond to environmental changes, and recover from disturbances through extensive field studies and theoretical ecology.
