معرفی
Louise Kruse Jensen is a Professor at the Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences within the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen. Her research focuses on bone and joint infections, particularly using porcine models to study peri-prosthetic joint infections and osteomyelitis. She maintains an active research program with numerous publications and collaborations across disciplines.
Her research interests center on the pathogenesis of bone and joint infections, with particular emphasis on translational approaches that bridge veterinary and human medicine. Using sophisticated porcine models, she investigates bacterial infection mechanisms in bone tissue, neutrophil responses, and the development of implant-associated infections. Her work on diabetic foot osteomyelitis and the CLOSE-UP surgical protocol demonstrates her commitment to developing clinically relevant solutions for difficult-to-treat bone infections.
Analysis of her recent publications reveals a strong focus on translational infection research using animal models, particularly minipigs, to study human-relevant bone and joint infections. Her work spans multiple disciplines including orthopedics, immunology, microbiology, and surgical techniques, with a consistent theme of developing better models and treatments for bone infections. The COMBINE approach she has developed represents an innovative cross-disciplinary framework for advancing bone infection science.
Professor Jensen actively participates in numerous international conferences including EBJIS, EORS, and the Oxford Bone Infection Conference, demonstrating her standing in the international bone infection research community. Her media appearances, including DR's feature on how her pig experiments can help sick children, highlight the public impact of her translational research.
Her laboratory work primarily utilizes porcine models to study bone infection pathogenesis, with particular expertise in peri-prosthetic joint infections and osteomyelitis. This research bridges veterinary and human medicine, creating valuable translational pathways for developing new treatments for difficult bone infections.
