Louise Goodes

Louise Goodes is an Honorary Research Associate at the School of Biological Sciences, The University of Western Australia, and Clinical and Research Coordinator for Plastics and Human Health at the Minderoo Foundation. Her work bridges clinical research in neurotrauma and environmental health impacts of plastics.

Her research focuses on Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) complications (bladder management, urinary tract infections) and plastic pollution effects on human health, particularly microplastics and polymer lifecycle analysis. Recent publications in Nature Medicine (2024) and Heliyon (2024) highlight her leadership in cross-disciplinary studies.

She leads the Neurotrauma Research Program (2016-2017), which developed clinical protocols for SCI bladder care, and collaborates with global institutions. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for environmental protection and health equity.
