Louisa Tuck is a Professor of orchestral cello studies at the Norwegian Music Academy and a tutor of cello at the Barratt Due Institute of Music in Oslo. She currently serves as Principal Cello of the Oslo Philharmonic since 2015, following her tenure as Section Leader Cello of the Royal Northern Sinfonia (2007–2015), where she was the youngest principal cellist of any UK orchestra at 23. Her roles span performance and education, blending orchestral leadership with academic mentorship.
She holds the Associate of the Royal Academy of Music (ARAM) distinction awarded in 2011. Notable performances include a 2019 recording of Richard Strauss’s Don Quixote with the Oslo Philharmonic, recognized by Gramophone as Editor’s Choice in 2020 for its 'beautifully integrated and superbly eloquent' interpretation.
Tuck’s artistic collaborations extend to chamber music partnerships with pianist Anna Tilbrook, The Nash Ensemble, and folk artist Kathryn Tickell. Her teaching focuses on orchestral cello techniques, reflecting her dual expertise as a performer and educator.
