Louisa Jorm

Professor Louisa Jorm is the Foundation Director of the Centre for Big Data Research in Health at UNSW Sydney. She specializes in applying advanced analytics to health and medical big data, including hospital, Medicare, and pharmaceutical records, to improve healthcare outcomes. Her work includes advocacy for better use of routinely collected health data and has informed national policies and ethical frameworks.

Education: Joined UNSW in 2014; previously held roles at the University of Western Sydney and the Sax Institute. Her research spans over 200 publications and $40 million in grants. She has played key roles in establishing major health data infrastructure like the NSW/ACT Centre for Health Record Linkage and the 45 and Up Study.

Research Interests: Focuses on health data science, epidemiological methods, and public health policy. Her work emphasizes translating evidence into policy, such as improving national health performance indicators and guidelines for acute coronary syndrome management in Indigenous populations.

Articles reflect her expertise in predictive analytics for cardiovascular outcomes, dementia prevention, and synthetic data generation. She leads the Maintain Your Brain trial, an online intervention reducing cognitive decline.
