Louisa Hope-Weeks, Ph.D., is a Professor of Chemistry and Dean of the College of Science at the University of Nevada, Reno. Prior to this role, she served as Associate Dean of Graduate and Postdoctoral Fellowships at Texas Tech University. Her research spans materials chemistry, focusing on energetic materials, sol-gel processing, and nanomaterials.
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Cambridge University (2000)
- B.S. in Chemistry, University of Hertfordshire (1997)
- Postdoctoral Researcher, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (2001-2002)
Her work investigates the synthesis and characterization of peroxide-based energetic materials, organometallic tetrazole/triazole compounds, and aerogel composites. Key research themes include catalytic oxidation, photocatalysis, and material property tuning via structural modifications.
Recent publications highlight advancements in aerogel synthesis, carbon composites, and metal-organic frameworks. Her studies integrate sol-gel processing, fluorescence resonance energy transfer, and hybrid material fabrication for environmental and industrial applications.
She has collaborated on projects involving catalytic efficiency, nanostructured materials, and environmental toxicology. Her leadership roles and technical contributions underscore her expertise in interdisciplinary chemistry and materials science.
