Louis Hourany is a Lecturer in Information Technology and Course Director (MIT, BVET) at Charles Sturt University, affiliated with the Faculty of Business, Justice and Behavioural Sciences. He holds a Master of Information Technology and a Bachelor of Vocational Education. His research focuses on cybersecurity, networking technology, and e-health security, particularly in privacy frameworks for healthcare systems. He co-authored a notable 2016 paper on enhancing e-health security. Professional memberships include IEEE, ACS, and ISACA.
Teaching spans undergraduate and postgraduate IT courses such as Cyber Incident Response, Network Security, Cloud Computing, and Linux Server Administration. He developed the subject ITC293: Introduction to the Web. In 2021–2022, he co-created a new subject (ITC293) with a team.
He received the Charles Sturt Excellence Awards (Highly Commended, 2023) for academic contributions.
