Dr. Hamilton’s work examines how sacred spaces and rituals shaped medieval communities, particularly in Italy. He has published extensively on topics including church dedications, liturgical reform movements, and the socio-political dimensions of medieval urbanization. His research methodologies combine traditional historiography with digital tools like GIS mapping to analyze texts such as Dante’s Divine Comedy.
His publications often critique and contextualize key works in medieval studies, such as analyses of Chris Wickham’s scholarship on medieval Rome and the Carolingian period’s debates over sacred architecture. While no formal awards are listed, his academic leadership role reflects his scholarly contributions to the field.
Hamilton oversees NJIT’s Honors College, focusing on interdisciplinary education and undergraduate research, while maintaining an active engagement with medieval studies through teaching and publications.
