Louis Fishman is an Associate Professor of History at Brooklyn College, CUNY, specializing in Middle Eastern history, Jewish-Muslim relations, and modern Turkish politics. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago and teaches courses on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and modern Middle Eastern history.
His research examines nationalism and identity formation in late Ottoman Palestine and contemporary Turkish politics. Recent publications analyze the interplay of religion, politics, and social tensions in Turkey and Israel. He has received multiple grants including the Whiting Fellowship for teaching excellence.
Fishman regularly contributes political analyses to international media outlets like Haaretz, commenting on Turkish-Israeli relations and Middle Eastern geopolitics. He has organized study abroad programs in Turkey and Israel to promote cross-cultural understanding.
