Associate Professor Louis Christie is an Associate Professor in Medicine and Associate Head of School (Rural Generalism) at Charles Sturt University's School of Rural Medicine. He is affiliated with Orange Health Service, where he has served as an emergency physician, retrieval specialist, and medical director. His roles include Senior Medical Officer in palliative care and fractional work in palliative medicine since 2011. Christie holds qualifications including MB.BS, FACEM, FACRRM, and a Clinical Diploma in Palliative Medicine.
His career spans over 25 years in rural medicine, with expertise in critical care, emergency medicine, and palliative care. He has contributed to healthcare leadership roles, including Director of Medical Services at Orange Health Service during the transition to the Bloomfield campus. Christie is committed to medical education, mentorship, and professional development, holding appointments with NSW Postgraduate Medical Council, NSW Institute of Medical Education and Training, and serving as a peer reviewer for the Health Care Complaints Commission.
