Lotus Goldberg

Lotus Goldberg is a Professor of Linguistics at Brandeis University, affiliated with the Interdepartmental Program in Linguistics and Computational Linguistics, and the Benjamin and Mae Volen National Center for Complex Systems. Her research focuses on theoretical syntax, particularly ellipsis and null anaphora, with empirical and computational approaches.

• B.A. (Honors) in Theoretical Linguistics, University of California, Santa Cruz

Research Interests: Goldberg’s work emphasizes empirical analysis of syntax-semantics interfaces, VP ellipsis, and null anaphora. She leads the Syntax Research Lab, developing the Brandeis-Simmons Corpus of English VP Ellipsis, a large-scale database for syntactic analysis of natural speech.

Advising/Grants: Goldberg’s research is supported by grants from Brandeis University’s Faculty Research initiatives. Her lab collaborates on corpus construction and syntactic annotation projects. She mentors students in theoretical linguistics and computational methods.
