Lotta Eronen

Lotta Eronen is a Senior Lecturer in Nursing at Arcada University of Applied Sciences (UAS) in Helsinki and a Doctoral Researcher at Åbo Akademi University’s Faculty of Education and Welfare Studies. She is affiliated with the Arcada Patient Safety and Learning Centre (APSLC) and focuses on health and welfare disciplines. Her work integrates nursing education, clinical practice, and research.

Education & Research:
- Doctoral Researcher: Focused on Nordic Nurse Competence Study, exploring future nursing competence development.
- Master of Health Care in Advanced Clinical Care and pedagogical studies.
- Registered Nurse with a decade of clinical experience in surgical and perioperative nursing.

Research Interests: Enhancing nursing competencies, compassion in healthcare workplaces, patient safety through incident reporting tools, virtual care innovation (e.g., Beds to Bytes project), and leadership in nursing education. She co-leads the ‘Comprehending Compassion’ research project to foster compassionate healthcare environments.

Teaching & Mentorship: Teaches in international nursing programs at Arcada, mentoring students to become ‘compassion ambassadors.’ Engages in curriculum development and clinical competence training.
