Lorraine Besser is a Professor of Philosophy at Middlebury College, specializing in moral psychology, the philosophy of happiness, and the history of ethics. She holds a PhD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with MA degrees from UNC and Claremont Graduate School, and a BA from Tulane University. Her research explores the intersection of philosophical theory and psychological research, particularly focusing on well-being, virtue ethics, and David Hume's moral philosophy. Professor Besser has taught courses on theories of the good, moral psychology, and early modern philosophy, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to understanding ethical concepts.
