Lorna Dawson is a Teaching Fellow in Counselling at the University of Strathclyde, leading postgraduate courses including the PG Certificate, PG Diplomas, and MSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy. With 30 years of mental health experience and 20 years as a Person-Centred/Experiential therapist, she focuses on integrating theory and clinical practice through experiential teaching methods to培养 competent, ethically aware practitioners.
Education: Master of Arts from the University of Glasgow (1979), focusing on educational attainment and psychological adjustment in primary school children.
Research Interests: Working with clients in crisis/trauma, social anxiety, and advancing Person-Centred approaches. Teaching focuses on psychopathology, pre-therapy, abuse, self-harm, suicide, ethics, and professional development.
Key Projects: Co-investigator in a study comparing therapeutic variables for socially anxious clients in trauma-focused work (2016–2017). Organized events like 'EmpoweringEFT' (2023) and contributed to policy impacts on youth counselling services.
Professional Contributions: Hosted public events on Scotland’s psychotherapy future (2024) and collaborated on projects enhancing therapeutic methodologies.
