Lorie Jacobs

Dr. Lorie Stagg Jacobs is an Associate Professor of Writing at the University of Houston-Clear Lake's College of Human Sciences and Humanities. She has served as co-director of First-Year Writing since 2018 and previously as a Faculty Fellow in Writing Across the Curriculum (2017-2021), organizing professional development workshops for faculty.

• Education: Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition from the University of Texas at Arlington; M.A. in Teaching English from the University of Nevada-Reno.

Her research focuses on discipline-specific writing pedagogy, academic labor issues, first-year composition frameworks, and student persistence strategies. As associate editor at CompPile since 2018, she contributes to the largest database for post-secondary writing studies.

Recent publications analyze tenure-track structures, workplace writing expectations, and feminist pedagogical approaches. She has presented at conferences on writing curriculum development and academic productivity.

Professional engagement includes hosting university-wide writing instruction seminars and collaborative research projects examining educational equity and faculty development.
