Lori Repetti is a Distinguished Service Professor in the Department of Linguistics at Stony Brook University. She holds a Ph.D. from UCLA (1989). Her research focuses on phonology, microvariation in Romance languages, and linguistic typology, with a particular emphasis on Italian dialects. Her work has been funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the National Science Foundation (NSF). She co-created the Clitics of Romance Languages (CRL) database, a resource for studying clitic pronouns in endangered Romance varieties. Repetti also contributes to linguistics pedagogy, developing innovative courses like the asynchronous general-education course Language in the United States.
